New York Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner has signed an extension with the club that many saw as surprising given the recent acquisition of former Boston Red Sox player Jacoby Ellsbury. Gardner, 30, signed on to a four-year contract extension worth $50 million, with a club option for a fifth year.
